 "The anticipation that has taken a year to develop, begins to build to excitement as the sunlight begins to fade. Then, as darkness falls upon the earth, comes the spectacle that has been defining “celebration” for hundreds of years...explosive!...thundering!!. . . FIREWORKS!!!"

So, too, does the Morgan Hill Fireworks on the Green inspire joy and symbolize freedom not only to the residents of our community, but to many folks in neighboring communities who travel here to share the celebration of our nation’s birth with us. Mr. Jim Aker and his Fireworks America team has been partnering with the Freedom Fest to deliver this jaw-dropping experience (the largest, land-based fireworks display in Northern California) for years as the climax to a fun day of live music, beer, pie eating contests and food trucks.

In 2024, your Freedom Fest team, together with our other partners in the City of Morgan Hill and Santa Clara County, has been carefully working over the past months to again ensure that our event is not only exciting and fun, but safe for everyone.

Gates open at 3pm for a full day of food, fun and music. We are excited to have three live acts in our line-up this year. Soucano will be joining The Hitmen and our beloved Patriotic Singers! The show begins at 5:30pm and continues until the fireworks begin at 9:30pm.

The evening begins with “The Wise Girls” trio singing the Star Spangled Banner. Then the live music starts with The Hitmen at 5:30pm. They're funky, soulful and will leave you in a cold sweat. They have been performing together for more than 20 years and their tight-knit group consistently delivers high-energy dance music to audiences at public and private functions throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Following The Hitmen, we will conduct our annual, Gizdich Ranch pie eating contest (thank you Gizdich Family!!). If you have someone in your group that would like to gorge themselves by trying to beat eleven others eating a pie without the aid of their hands then be one of the first twelve people to sign up for the contest at our Independence Day Celebrations, Inc. headquarters table (look for the RV!).

Of course, no Fireworks on the Green festival and show would be complete without the Patriotic Singers. Karen Crane and the Patriotic Singers make a return appearance to give everyone a chance to catch a glimpse of the wonderful program they performed the night before, kicking off our Freedom Fest celebration.

Then, Saucano takes the stage. A high-energy Latin Rock and Soul band, Saucano's sound is infectious. Their music includes that of Santana, Malo, El Chicano, Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan, Average White Band, Doobie Brothers, Bruno Mars, Brand New Heavies and more. With seasoned musicians who have gigged throughout the SF Bay Area and beyond. Saucano's goal is to get you up and dancing!!

Finally, we will finish off the evening with our fireworks display...YAAAAY!!
