JANE REED GOULARTE

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Picture from last year’s Sing of past recipients

On Christmas Day in 2018, our Morgan Hill community lost a gracious and dedicated volunteer whose name was Jane Reed Goularte.

Jane was known for her kindness and her ability to put the needs of others before her own. Though she was born in San Jose, Morgan Hill was her home. She attended historic Machado School, Burnett Middle School and Live Oak High. At Live Oak, she met Anthony Goularte. They shared 41 years of marriage. Her family grew to include her daughter, Taylor, son in law Kyle and grandchildren Elle and Enzo.

A true part of Jane’s character was her love for children. She volunteered at St. Catherine’s Church, helped her mother, Dorothy, teach Sunday School classes and was a Girl Scout leader. The holidays would find her collecting and sorting food for the annual food drive and toys for Toys for Tots. She enjoyed traveling with Anthony and taking part in community events. She was a “Hometown Hero.”

In 2021, Anthony created the Jane Reed Goularte Memorial Scholarship to benefit children who have participated in Freedom Fest’s Patriotic Sing. The funds distributed by the scholarship are to be used by the recipients to further their musical endeavors and education as well as to support their community service. Our hope is that our recipients demonstrate the love Jane had for our community and her passion to serve with caring and kindness.
