One of the most inspiring moments of the Freedom Fest Patriotic Sing is the announcement of our annual Jane Reed Goularte Memorial Scholarships. Who will be this year’s recipients?

Jane attended Machado School, Burnett Middle School and Live Oak High School where she met Anthony. They married and together they volunteered in Morgan Hill. She was a Girl Scout Leader and spent time organizing Toys for Tots and numerous events at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.

She loved children and is remembered by her daughter, Taylor, Taylor’s husband Kyle, and their two children. Four years ago, Anthony established the Jane Reed Goularte Scholarship which is given to youngsters who have actively participated in the Patriotic Sing. The recipient is encouraged to use the award to pursue music through lessons or purchasing instruments. The recipient must have good academic grades and a record of volunteering in our community.

Abby Wilcox, a student at Jackson Academy of Math and Music was a recipient last year. She has been a frequent soloist for the Sing, and sang the National Anthem at Fireworks last year. Abby is also a Girl Scout and is active in her troop events as well as serving as Staff at Girl Scout Day Camp.

If you attend events around Morgan Hill, you may be familiar with Olivia Webber. She attends Britton Middle School and studies both piano and vocal and has performed with the Sing. You’ll often find her singing at community events. She was also a recipient of last year’s scholarship.

Jasmine Din is a talented pianist and vocalist. She attends Jackson Academy of Math and Music where she participates in afterschool band and plays volleyball. She is one of the Freedom Fest Patriotic Sing's Alumni singers. She helps with vocals as well as encouraging our young singers.

Though Jane passed in 2018, memories of her remain with those who knew her. And, today, thanks to the Jane Reed Goularte Memorial Scholarship, she will not be forgotten.
